This cardboard scratcher had a very strong chemical smell right out of the package. I aired it for two days outside, brought it back inside, and when my cat started using it the smell became overwhelming with every scratch. The smell also transferred to my cat. I gave it two weeks but the persistent odor made it unacceptable for a pet product. It can’t be healthy for cats nor humans. I would not recommend this scratcher.
